Maintaining Exterior Surfaces

Exterior surfaces are a natural extension of the beauty and design of the inside of your home.  Exterior surfaces include interlocking pavers, flagstone, travertine, saltillo, slate, etc. These surfaces have to endure the elements of nature - water, sun and wind.  Professional sealing by Acu-Chem, Inc. is strongly recommended to preserve their beauty, integrity and durability. Maintenance for a sealed exterior surface is as easy as these simple steps:

Interlocking Pavers:

  1. Sweep, blow or hose to remove dirt and dust as needed.  Excess hosing will leave hard water deposits on the paver's surface  and
will eventually cause discoloration.  This is especially true in Arizona.
  2. Clean spills as soon as possible with a neutral pH cleaner such as Acu-Chem's Natural Stone Cleaner and hot water.  Follow the instructions on the label for proper dilution.  Promptly remove residue and dirty water.
  3. Protect your investment!  Annual resealing by Acu-Chem, Inc. is strongly recommended to keep your interlocking pavers looking new and beautiful and to prevent costly restoration. Acu-Chem, Inc. can remove most stains.  Call for a free estimate.

NOTE: Exposure to corrosive materials such as battery acid, brake/motor oil, transmission fluid, etc. can penetrate the seal and cause dark staining.  Proper
re-sealing will help to reduce this.  Acu-Chem, Inc. can remove most stains.

Natural Stones (flagstone, travertine, saltillo, slate, etc.):

  1. Sweep, blow or hose to remove dirt and dust as needed.  Excess hosing will leave hard water deposits on the stone's surface and will eventually cause discoloration.  This is especially true in Arizona.
  2. Clean spills as soon as possible with a neutral pH cleaner such as Acu-Chem's Natural Stone Cleaner and hot water.  Follow the instructions on the label for proper dilution.  Promptly remove residue and dirty water.
  3. Wet mop when necessary using a string mop and a neutral pH cleaner such as Acu-Chem's Natural Stone Cleaner.  Follow the instructions on the label.  Flood exterior surface with cleaner and water; agitate with a push broom; remove residue promptly with mop or wet vac.
  4. Protect your investment!  Annual re-sealing by Acu-Chem, Inc. is strongly recommended to keep your exterior natural stones looking new and beautiful and to prevent costly restoration.

NOTE: Some natural stone surfaces can be slippery when wet; use caution.
